Holiday Cottages in the Cotswolds
The thing most commented on by our guests is the grand period setting in which our self catering holiday cottages
are located. Passing through a coaching archway, visitors enter an impressive courtyard full of flowers and topiary.
Here, they find three of the original coaching buildings, each converted into stunning holiday cottages. The Georgian
manor house itself is no less impressive, so it will come as no surprise to learn that Upper Court has been used as a
backdrop for fashion and film shoots.
Gardens and Grounds
Especially popular with children, the extensive gardens and grounds, extending to 15 acres, match the quality of the
buildings. Guests are free to wander in the grounds, the centrepiece of which is a beautiful two acre lake that is home
to a variety of wildfowl, swans, ducks and geese that all love to be fed. There are lots of spots suitable for romantic
picnics, or you might even take the boat out. The millstream and watermill (now ruined) are mentioned in the Doomsday
Book (1086).
Our Holiday Cottages
Our holiday cottages are flexible enough to provide a cosy retreat for two or a venue for a large family reunion. The
same comfortable stylish feel applies to all our properties. They all benefit from our love of antiques, as well as
from the lake, grounds and lovely gardens. Our genuine understanding of what's needed - we've been welcoming guests for
over 30 years - make for a happy holiday experience.
The Coach House, Stables and Courtyard Cottage are located in the courtyard and can be interconnected
to accommodate a large group. The Coach House is an ideal central entertaining space, as the Gallery can provide dining
for up to 24 guests.
Dovecote, a romantic hideaway for two, and Watermill Cottage, an early 18th century gem, both overlook the lake.
Garden Flat, another retreat for two, is located in a wing of Upper Court
beside the walled garden and swimming pool.
Facilities
Besides the extensive gardens and grounds, which you are free to explore, you are also welcome to use our outdoor
swimming pool and tennis court.
Weddings and Corporate Entertaining
Because Upper Court is often used as a venue for weddings or corporate
entertaining, our cottages are frequently booked as accommodation for these type of events.
Catering
We can even supply our own caterers to host a dinner party for you. You can choose the full package, cordon blue
cooking allied with excellent service, or they will supply food only if you are happy to serve yourselves. Prices
start from about £20.00 per person, subject to a minimum order.
Kemerton and Bredon Hill
At the foot of Bredon Hill (famed for A E Houseman's poem of the same name), Kemerton is one of several villages
renowned for their beauty. The village shop and The Crown, a friendly village pub that serves excellent food, are each
just a few minutes' walk up the lane from Upper Court. Bredon Hill itself climbs to 1,000 feet and is topped with the
remains of an Iron Age fort. From the summit, stunning views can be had of the Malvern and Cotswold hills, and on a
clear day you can see five counties!
